Stitch Magazine Feature

I was excited to be a part of the Feb/Mar 2018 Stitch Magazine featuring pieces inspired by literature.

I created a stump work project with Mary Poppins flying over the Houses of Parliament in London.  Inspired by my piece I created for my Future Tutor course, I enjoyed revisiting this technique to create a step by step project for this well loved magazine.

Coombe Abbey Retreat

Published on 3rd September 2018

The medieval retreat at Coombe Abbey last month, was a great success, where Sarah Homfray and I welcomed 10 lovely ladies to explore and learn the medieval embroidery technique known as ‘Opus Anglicanum’ ( English work).

The Abbey was built during the same time this embroidery was at his height and added to the authenticity of the time we spent there.

We all enjoyed the experience and all reflected on just ‘how did they do that’ when electricity, magnifiers, and spectacles were not invented at this time.  We also were in awe of how much bling there must have been using real gold and other metals, luxurious jewels and sumptuous silks that were available which many are not now.

My next retreat is a little more light hearted, with a fun day of Stitching and Tea at the world famous ‘Betty’s Tearooms’ in Harrogate in November.

Bespoke Lessons

Recently I welcomed a lovely lady from Sydney, Australia to my studio for some private lessons.

Prior to her arrival we conversed via email with design and project ideas for her to learn some goldwork techniques. She asked me to design a gold shoe brooch for her friend and a bee brooch for herself, having some specific design ideas for me to work with.

Working over four days fitting in with her travels, she completed her projects and went away with confidence to restart a project she was struggling with which had taken a place in her ‘to do’ pile, and excitement to show her first goldwork pieces to her friends and family.

If you have a project you are struggling with; wish to create a bespoke piece of embroidery; or want to get away for some devoted stitching time, I am happy to arrange this for you. Should you need accommodation, the village where I live has a selection of venues on offer, which are not far from my studio. I would be pleased to create your own bespoke embroidery lesson, like the one I did here. Please contact me with enquiries.

First retreat launched

Published on 16th November 2016

I am pleased to open bookings for the first Eternal Embroidery Stitching Retreat – Embroiderway 2017.

My dream has been to host a few days of getting away from it all and enjoying some devoted stitching time in a beautiful part of the English countryside. In today’s busy world, its a luxury to be able to get away from it all and indulge in some “me time” and work on a creative project. I am pleased to now open bookings for my first stitching retreat and look forward to offering you a few days of peace and quite, creative time, great food, laughter with new friends and a chance to indulge in some uninterrupted stitching time. I look forward to seeing you there.

Welcome to my website for Eternal Embroidery.

Since graduating from the Future Tutors programme at the Royal School of Needlework in the Summer of 2016, I have been putting my plans into action to start up my embroidery tutoring business and creating this website. I’d like to thank everyone at Hive of Design in Leicester who have worked with me to create my website of which I am proud to now launch. I look forward to welcoming you to one of my classes or retreats in the future.
